I’m super behind on posting my latest Stitch Fix. This one arrived just before a recent trip to California and I’d specifically requested items that would be great for travel (and stylish enough for San Francisco). With the exception of a couple fit issues this might be my favorite fix yet. Just need to figure out sizing for tops and dresses between small/medium. Seems to depend a bit on the brand of each item which isn’t unusual for me when mall shopping either.
I’d pinned this dress after seeing it posted on a couple blogs and on Pinterest. I kept hearing how super comfortable the Gilli maxi dresses are and they weren’t kidding. I feel like I’m wearing comfy pajamas in this thing and yet totally feel pulled together. It couldn’t be more perfect for travelling and I love that it can transition into fall by simply throwing on my denim jacket from the previous fix. I need to figure out what kind of shoes to wear with it once sandals are no longer appropriate so if you’ve got any suggestions there I’d love some help on that. But this one was a definite keeper.
Price: $74
Verdict: KEPT!
You might remember I pinned this top and I think I may have even specifically mentioned it in my note to my stylist before the fix. Unfortunately the fit was just a bit too snug in the small. I loved the pleat details and the cutout trim on the front. I also loved the covered buttons and the soft grey coloring. I think if they’d have sent a medium in this top I’d have had a tough time parting with it but it was a bit pricey and I was totally okay with keeping 2 or 3 out of the 5 items sent on this fix.
Price: $68
Verdict: Pass
This is another one I had pinned and REALLY hoped would be in my box. I mean, doesn’t it just have California beachy written all over it? I LOVE the embroidery. I think the red and blue stitching makes it perfect for our patriotic holidays here in the states and yet the ivory (rather than white) keeps it from seeming overly patriotic where it might only seem appropriate for those holiday celebrations, ya know? I’ve paired it with my blue denim shorts and red saltwaters on warmer days and my boyfriend jeans and navy chucks when it’s not quite so hot. But Kallie suggested pairing it with the next item in my box.
Price: $64 (and worth every penny)
Verdict: KEPT
I was totally skeptical at first but this has quickly become my favorite outfit in my closet. In a million years I’d have never thought to put olive cargo pants with this red, white and off-white top but it totally works. Add the distressed denim jacket from a previous fix and you have to stop me from wearing this 3 days a week. I get hooked on a favorite outfit like that and it’s a struggle. Like I’m planning my week out thinking if I just work at a couple different coffee shops I could pull off wearing whatever my current fav outfit is on like a monday, wednesday and Saturday of the same week. That’s normal, right?! : )
Price: $78
Verdict: Kept
The last item in my box was the Luc dress that I’d been pinning and requesting specifically for what seems like months. Unfortunately the small was just too snug through the top so it had to go back. I was so bummed because it was as casual comfy as I’d imagined it would be and it had pockets! I do so love a dress that has pockets. And it would’ve packed so easily for our trip.
Update…I requested the Luc dress in a size Medium for my next fix and Kallie was able to find me one. She really is SO great!
I need to write up a Stitch Fix info post/page to explain how the whole process works and fill you in on how those prices above actually aren’t at all what I paid for the items I’ve kept. I’ll try and get that post up soon but if you’ve got any questions in the meantime feel free to post them in the comments or shoot me a message using the contact link above. : )
